The wachau GOURMETfestival, held in the Donau Niederösterreich region of Austria, is celebrating its 7th edition this year. From March 27th to April 10th you can join wine tastings, a GOURMET safari, and enjoy the picturesque surroundings of the Austrian countryside.

” From March 27th to April 10th, stars above the Wachau will be sparkling more than ever. wachau GOURMETfestival hosts have scored some really big coups. The grand opening will be celebrated at Kloster UND in Krems, one of this year’s hotspots of the festival. In its seventh year, the festival is presented by the Austrian wine magazine VINARIA, which also powers the top wine tasting event „wein.genuss.krems“ on April 4th and 5th.
What is it that makes the wachau GOURMETfestival so special?
Really, the question is not “Why is a gourmet festival held in the Wachau?” The question should be: “Where else would a gourmet festival be held if not in the Wachau?”
There are many reasons to pick the Wachau as the setting for culinary events. On the one hand, there is the surrounding countryside, which was included on the world heritage list a few years ago. On the other, there is the high density of top restaurants, cemented by the many toques won by their chefs. Last but not least, the Wachau, as an internationally acclaimed wine-growing area, is an excellent place to enjoy wine. “Enjoy where enjoyment arises!” is the motto of the wachau GOURMETfestival. “
