Some might say that there is nothing better than ice cream on a hot summer day, the kind where your tongue is racing against time to catch the rivulets of cream dripping down the side of your waffle cone. Others may argue that a cold beer is what really hits the spot.
You may not have thought to combine the two but thankfully, Frozen Pints has, and now everyone can enjoy the best of both worlds, or as they say, “Have your beer and eat it too.”
Well, maybe not everyone. Frozen Pints was founded in Atlanta and their craft beer ice cream is currently only available in the state of Georgia, but that doesn’t make it any less tempting to the rest of the world.
A product of serendipity, the inspiration to infuse two summer favourites came at a barbeque when someone spilled a beer near, but not in, the ice cream maker. The rest, as they say, is history, and today we are graced with Frozen Pints flavours like Peach Lambic, Honey IPA, and Vanilla Bock, to name a few. And it’s not just the flavour which will appeal to adult tastes; these pints of ice cream also come with a little something extra in the form of alcohol content ranging between 1% and 3.2%.
Hopheads rejoice! We start with a classic American IPA – grassy, piney, and hoppy notes of course. Then we add a floral honey to temper the true-to-style bitterness. The result is a full, well-balanced flavor that’s completely unique. Dig in and you’ll taste the honey first, then the hoppy deliciousness around the back. Bitter sweet perfection. – www.frozenpints.com
If you are in Atlanta and wondering where to enjoy your boozy ice cream on a hot summer day, you won’t be short of outdoor space. Piedmont Park, northeast of the city centre, is open daily from 6am to 11pm and Historic Park Tours take place every Saturday from March to December, leaving from the centre of the Green Market. The park also offers plenty of green space near its waterways to spread out your picnic blanket, enjoy the midtown Atlanta skyline, and indulge in a few Frozen Pints with friends.
