Close your eyes for a moment and imagine yourself on the Spanish Canary Island of Lanzarote. Are you strolling leisurely around the island’s capital city, Arrecife, or perhaps stretching out on the sand of Punta del Papagayo with a cold drink in hand? Or are you instead running a half marathon through Lanzarote’s wine region, La Geria?
Those with a sense of adventure will be doing exactly that on Sunday, June 23rd at the Lanzarote Wine Run. Participants can enter either the 21.1 kilometre half marathon or the 10 kilometre trek and are supplied with water and wine samples from local bodegas as they move along the route.
That’s not all, however, as this year the Lanzarote Wine Run is held in conjunction with the Traditional Cuisine Festival. Starting Saturday, June 22nd in the evening and continuing on Sunday during and after the race, the Traditional Cuisine Festival is a showcase for local restaurants and wineries, and gives those participating in the Wine Run motivation to reach the finish line as quickly as they can.
“In 2013 we will celebrate a new edition of the popular Lanzarote Wine Run. This year’s event will be even bigger and better than before, with the addition of the Traditional Cuisine Festival. The idea was born from the organizations’ wish to offer the participants and followers an even better experience during the event. The event will unite sport and gastronomy in the unique environment of La Geria.
Register now to take part! Registration is open for both the Running and Trekking experiences.
