Every December, Mt. Washington Valley in New England, a part of the northeastern region of the United States, is abuzz with excitement. For the past 18 years, the Country Inns in the White Mountains have been holding the Annual Inn to Inn Holiday Cookie and Candy Tour. This year’s participants will go on this self-guided tour from 11am -4pm on December 13 and 14, 2014.
The Inn to Inn Holiday Cookie and Candy Tour covers inns from Harts Location to Chocorua, New Hampshire. According to the Country Inns’ website, there are eleven inns that are participating in the event and they include the Darby Field Inn in Albany; Inn at Crystal Lake and Pub in Eaton; Covered Bridge House in Glen; Notchland Inn in Hart’s Location; Glen Oaks Inn in Intervale; Inn at Ellis River in Jackson; 1785 Inn & Restaurant; Eastman Inn, Old Red Inn & Cottages in North Conway, Snowvillage Inn in Snowville, and Admiral Peary Inn Bed & Breakfast in nearby Fryeburg, Maine. All of them are located at a comfortable distance from each other, mostly less than fifteen minutes apart. A map will also be provided for participants to plan their routes ahead.
Each inn will showcase their own interpretation of this year’s theme: “The Taste of Christmas” through their decorations. So finding fancy embellishments and quirky Christmas trees can be expected. The Christmas trees are sponsored and tour goers will be able to vote for the best tree in their opinion. Donations will be given to the top three trees’ designated non-profit organization. Innkeepers will also happily give tour goers some holiday decorating tips and tricks. And because this is a cookie and candy tour, sweet treats will be offered. Not only will the participants get to taste goodies made from original recipes, but they will be able to take home the recipes from each inn so they can make the sweets at home.
To make the most of the event, organizers highly encourage advanced purchase of a lodging package from one of the participating inns as tickets are limited. The basic inclusions of the package are accommodations for two nights with breakfast, two tour tickets, a collection of recipes from each inn, keepsake ornament made of brass, and a chance to win a gift certificate worth 250 US Dollars (USD) for a holiday at one of the inns. Other lodging properties offer additional perks like dinner and sleigh rides.
