Nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, a shop in the picturesque town of Jasper is keeping a sweet secret: fudge. And it’s not just your average confectionary, as Jasper Rock and Jade makes the smoothest, creamiest homemade fudge found anywhere in town.
Established in 1813, Jasper was initially an outpost of the Canadian fur trade but is now a hotspot for all sorts and all seasons of outdoor activities. From skiing to snowshoeing, hiking to helicopter tours, this tiny town offers a lot, and its fudge is out of this world.
Fudge is known to be a delicious result of serendipity, and texture is key when making this sugar, butter, and milk-based confectionary. Jasper Rock and Jade has texture down to a science. Unassuming from the outside, the store has a mini fudge kitchen in the back corner which churns out silky, flavourful batches and spoils their customers with choice.
Among the more popular flavours are maple walnut; a true Canadian creation, peanut butter and chocolate, cookies and cream, chocolate explosion, and cappuccino. If you can’t make up your mind you’ll be offered a sample to taste, but be forewarned that they are all delectable and your choice will never be easy.
